Imagine yourself smoking a cig with red painted nails, listening to Miles Davis, and settling into an Eames chair with a highball after a long day of homemaking.

If your home is slowly transforming into an exact replica of the Mad Men set, then you are no stranger to mid-century cool. Now through May 17th, The Blanton is hosting the Birth of Cool: California Art, Design, and Culture at Midcentury. This ambitious tour originated in Orange County and is making its last stop in Austin. Incorporating art, architecture, furniture design, film and music, the exhibition gives an all encompassing glimpse into mid-century modernism.

You’ll go mad for mod, despite your weakness for sweats and an over-stuffed chair.
